Responsible for overseeing students' financial aid award activities, including support in accounting, financial reporting and ensuring compliance with fiscal policies and regulations. This role is crucial in the support of managing resources effectively, maintaining financial stability and support in the institution's strategic planning.
Essential Duties
Access to update, maintain and review highly sensitive, federal student aid data with the U.S. Department of Education federal site or Oklahoma State Regents for state aid. This role must ensure that all information is protected and adherence to federal and state regulations are met.
Oversee and manage all fiscal operations related to federal student aid funding (or scholarships), ensuring accurate daily account management, quality control and fund reconciliation.
Troubleshooting and data analysis on various federal and state web sites to include but not limited to: Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), Banner and OSRHE.
Responsible for managing the daily student workflow and reports to resolve any discrepancies to ensure timely processing of student aid.
Collaborate effectively with multiple college departments to address aid inquiries and resolve disbursement issues.
Monitor and resolve issues of, but not limited to, overpayments, default, aid limits and other related alerts.
Conducts need analysis in compliance with federal criteria to determine the eligibility of each financial aid applicant.
Performs Return to Title IV calculations as it pertains to post withdrawal disbursements and returning of unearned aid.
Provide guidance and assistance to students regarding eligibility requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent education in Business, Accounting or other related area. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.
Detail-oriented with good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform responsibilities with initiative and minimal supervision.
Ability to interact effectively in a team based environment, college service areas and all student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or other related area. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.
Prefer 1 year experience working in the Financial Aid environment.
Experience working with Federal Title IV regulations, policies and procedures related to financial aid.
