Project Manager - HFC Monitoring Project

Requirements

The HFC Monitoring Project at Georgetown University is a new initiative to improve the world's understanding of global emissions of highly potent greenhouse gases. This project will involve the development of sophisticated computer models of these emissions as well as on-the-ground measurements (i.e. flask sampling) around the globe. The offices of the HFC Monitoring Project will be at the newly renovated GU Capital Campus located at 111 Massachusetts Ave. NW.

The Project Manager works closely with the PIs and research scientists to establish project plans, support the execution of those plans, track milestone deliverables and impact, and strategize on future projects. They will support the establishment of new flask measurement sites internationally, including building relationships with local partners, supporting contract developments, and developing new site protocols along with the research scientist. This position will require some travel to support new site development and some flexibility around travel planning as the project develops. The Project Manager will support a research team composed of postdoctoral researchers, fellows, and student assistants ensuring that deadlines are established, supply, travel, and program needs are met. Additionally, the project manager will support research efforts through background research including literature reviews and support the publication of the project results through website content.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Project management and coordination.
  • PI and research team support.
  • Flask sampling procedure implementation.


Work Interactions

The Project Manager reports to the Project PI (Lickley) and works closely with the research team focused on developing new flask measurement stations in undersampled regions. This will include senior researchers at multiple universities and NGOs. They will collaborate with researchers, fellows, and student assistants in support of the project goals.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in place of degree, and 2+ years experience in planning, building, and managing complex projects
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective collaborative relationships across internal and external stakeholders as well as with individuals with varying levels of work experience and professional backgrounds
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders such as government practitioners, academics, and policy leaders
  • Experience living and/or working across cultures and internationally
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work in an environment with competing priorities and a hybrid team
  • Proficiency using computer systems including word processing, collaborative software such as Slack and Google suite, Zoom, and project management tools such as Asana
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
