Project Appointment Researcher - Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences

Position Description:

As a Project Appointment Researcher, you will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Develop data management plan for Dr. Elena Semina's laboratory.
  • Manage the migration of data from an old system to new, reduce duplicate files that exist within data, institute file compression to archive older files.
  • Manage a large data transfer between institutions.
  • Explore use of RCC high performance computing (HPC) cluster and assist with establishing protocols to use SpliceAI and other Bioinformatics tools; determine whether Varseq runs better in HPC.
  • WGS sample processing - set up Varseq software to run projects, exporting and merging the trio files; make suggestions to optimize processing steps.

Required knowledge: biology, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, documentation, records management, data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills
