Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, Product Protection and Supply Chain Security, will manage and support Vertex's programs to keep our medicines safe and secure across our commercial portfolio and clinical pipeline. This role is required to direct efforts across the company to prevent, detect, and respond to threats of counterfeiting, theft, and diversion. This role will be critical in developing and implanting a strategy for supply chain risk evaluation and mitigation. This role will report to the Director of Product Protection and Supply Chain Security and work closely with Supply Chain, Quality, Security, Legal and other key stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead investigations and investigative services into product threats and supply chain security incidents
  • Manage Vertex's internet monitoring and market sampling programs focused on product protection
  • Engage with external security organizations and public/private agencies focused on protecting pharmaceutical integrity and security
  • Support Vertex's Secure Supply Chain Council - a cross-functional team dedicated to securing our global supply chain
  • Manage Vertex's security audit program for our supply chain partners and enforce minimum security standards
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, regulations, and best practices including managing Vertex's CTPAT certification
  • Partner with packaging and quality colleagues on brand protection and product security features
  • Conduct risk assessments of supply chain processes and identify vulnerabilities and potential security gaps
  • Assess supply chain and diversion risk as part of Vertex's geo-expansion team
  • Project manage supply chain security projects and initiatives
  • Cultivate change and innovation by seeking opportunities to strengthen and improve existing supply chain security operations

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Deep knowledge of supply chain security best practices
  • Understanding of supply chains and logistics
  • Proven ability to work at a fast pace on multiple projects of a critical nature.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Able to be trusted with highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Detail oriented with the ability to proactively identify and communicate conflicts in scheduling/priorities
  • Consistently displays sound ethics, good judgment and demonstrates Vertex's core values

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 6+ years of work experience in the supply chain security and product protection
  • Ability to perform as an individual contributor as well as work as part of a team, think strategically, and proactively identify and address problems.
  • A track record of success functioning in dynamic, matrix environments with the ability to multitask seamlessly

Pay Range:

$133,600 - $200,400

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

In this On-Site designated role, you will work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
