Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Purchases a broad, highly mixed and/or technical category of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies, which may involve contract negotiations, material deviation, and other complex considerations. Administers and directs orders on a timely and economical basis with the best combination of price, quality, and delivery

  • Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with cost, quality and delivery requirements

  • Coordinates with manufacturing staff and plant production control staff with regard to projected production schedules and purchase order status. Maintains current, accurate, open-order status of all purchases

  • Complete purchase requests with domestic and international suppliers by inputting purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and verifying all transactions

  • Acts as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve commercial related issues

  • Process non-conforming material requests with internal departments and supply chain partners

  • Coordinates necessary product specification revisions and diversions as needed to meet plant production schedules

  • Maintain system accuracy, including lead-time, pricing, current supplier information, current purchase order data, etc.

  • Monitor supplier performance by ensuring that product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure company requirements are met and that supplier is aware of their performance

Skills & Abilities

  • Ideal candidate will have relevant experience in Oil and Gas, High mix low volume OEM manufacturing, or precision rotating equipment

  • Ability to respond consistently with a high degree of initiative to resolve issues or complex problems that may arise

  • Job related experience for 7 - 10 years

  • Working knowledge of the following areas:

o purchasing principles, procedures, nomenclature, and practices

o business practices

o legal practice

o customer needs and expectations

o computer system

  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner

  • Ability to negotiate with vendors

  • Ability to effectively instruct and train other employees

  • Ability to operate and functionally use a computer, including spreadsheets, database management, and MRP system

  • Must be able to organize, plan, and prioritize

  • Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate, and pay attention to detail

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations

  • Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills

  • 5% of travel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred (Not Required)

  • 7-10 years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supply management, and supplier relationships

Compensation Details

Annual Salary: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00

Additional Compensation

Salary Range for this position: $70K-90K (the salary offered will be determined based on the applicant's education, experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and will be compared with internal equity along with market data for this position).
