Summary of Job Duties:The Graduate Assistant (GA) position is with the Center for Integrative Nanotechnology Sciences, a research center focused on advanced materials discoveries. GA works twenty (20) hours per week. Work schedule depends on research needs and the student's course schedule. The individual hired assists Center employees with various research projects. The GA position is temporary, but may be extended depending on Center needs, the student's academic standing and satisfactory job performance, and continued funding availability. The GA is expected to have knowledge in chemistry, biology, physics or engineering, depending upon research needs. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
  • Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students;
  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in support of Center research programs, performing assigned tasks appropriately inside and outside the labs;
  • Assist undergraduate students who participate in Center research;
  • Assist in maintaining safe and clean lab and work spaces;
  • Understand and follow written and verbal instructions;
  • Keep records and notes of lab activities, as instructed by supervisor(s);
  • Summarize project results and present them orally and/or in writing, as directed by supervisor(s);
  • Participate in Center meetings as necessary;
  • Contribute to technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations, as required by supervisor(s);
  • Other Center duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Motivation and ability to learn;
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform detailed work;
  • Ability to read, speak and write English at a conversational or better level;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Understanding of confidentiality and ability to maintain it;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
