Position Overview:

Work in association with the General Counsel as a member of the Legal team with a focus on various legal matters that are significant to the Bank's operations. Will partner with and be responsible for supporting Vendor Management, Information Technology, Treasury Management, Human Resources, Marketing, and Compliance. Coordinates with internal departments and outside counsel as needed. Will also support all general legal matters and complete complex assignments involving the exercise of independent judgement, providing comprehensive solutions to complex problems.

Essential Functions



  • With limited supervision, provide legal advice to Bank internal customers regarding all areas of bank operations.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage various vendor and Information Technology contracts, including master service agreements, software licensing agreements, statements of work, consulting agreements, and NDAs.
  • Identify any legal and business risks inherent to a proposed vendor or service contract.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure that risk assessments for all technology and related contract purchases are carried out.
  • Partner with internal information security teams to help develop and improve technology vendor and evaluation protocols
  • Develops, maintains and manages relationships with outside counsel and law firms to augment Legal Department services.
  • Monitors state and federal case law and legislative developments that may impact the Bank.
  • Perform special projects and other legal responsibilities as assigned by the legal team to meet WTB business needs.

Qualifications



  • Juris Doctorate
  • Licensed to practice law in Washington or qualified to work as in-house counsel in Washington.
  • Five (5) years' experience of practice in banking operations is preferred.
  • Experience in vendor management, contract drafting, and contract negotiation.
  • Information Technology background preferred.
  • General knowledge of banking law and regulations.
  • Experience with general banking relations.
  • Ability to parse and communicate complex banking matters and identify key risk factors.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Previous in-house counsel experience strongly preferred.


Compensation: $112,430 - $168,700

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position located in Spokane, WA. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. This position is eligible to participate in an applicable annual bonus plan.
