Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of 6 digital press operators spanning 3 shifts and 2 large format hybrid Vutek digital presses and 1 large format HP roll-to-roll printer.
  • Conduct daily reviews of the print schedule to align with overall department priorities
  • Verify colors, substrates, and ensure high quality printed items are being produced.
  • Troubleshoot press errors and issues, provide guidance to press operators, and escalate issues to maintenance when required.
  • Read and understand job paperwork.
  • Must be able to record job data consistently and accurately in our Press Tracking computer database system.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Exhibits strong communication skills; ability to interact effectively with management, customers, peers, and vendors.
  • Requests, organizes, and stages materials on a job-by-job basis to ensure the print devices do not get interrupted, and periodically helps inventory control team with auditing the materials used in the department.
  • Prepares and RIPs digital print production files using Fiery and Onyx software.
  • Implement improvements in processes and creative ways to get work completed on time.
  • Collaborate with the internal maintenance manager and external press technical support vendors to quickly and efficiently resolve functional issues on the digital printers
  • Ensure print quality is met or exceeded on all digital jobs, resolving issues when items do not meet quality expectations, and document quality issues for future prevention.
  • Train, supervise, and mentor new digital press operators and take an active role in the hiring through candidate review and decision making.
  • Operate HP Latex roll-to-roll printer as needed and fill in for press operators as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with digital graphics and a good color vision, with the ability to identify and distinguish colors accurately.
  • Must be able to frequently lift upto 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and additional hours, as required by business needs
  • Ability to stand most of the workday, and tolerate the noise, and general work conditions of a production environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills
