INDUSTRIAL FIRE LIEUTENANT

PAY: $18.68 Hourly.

JOB DUTIES

The Fire Lieutenant directs the activities of all Fire personnel during an assigned shift. Responds to emergencies and performs fire suppression/EMS activities, rescue, damage control and property preservation. Maintains a state of readiness of facilities and equipment by scheduled inspections, testing and maintenance. Promotes the health and safety of the department. Although firefighting and rescue work are the most difficult and responsible areas of activity, the major portion of time is spent drilling and studying methods, techniques, and organization, and in routine duties in the care and maintenance of customer property and equipment.

This is considered a safety sensitive position and is subject to the both, the Company's and the Client's Industrial Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Administration Task:

  • Prepares timely and accurate reports and maintains company files in an up-to-date status, as required. Reports include but not limited to, Daily Unit logs (214), Activity Reports, PCRs, Accident reports, Reimbursement reports, and electronic mail.

  • Monitors the work and training schedule, and communicates with team members in preparation for the assignment.

  • Stays abreast of all company communication including but not limited to emails, newsletters, memos, meetings, videos.

  • Maintains confidentiality with employee, customer and contractual information.

  • Maintains the company reputation through positive direct contact with customers, agencies, vendors, subcontractors and the public. Regularly and clearly communicates with management additional contractual opportunities with current and prospective customers.

  • Abides by and reinforces the Company's objectives, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, mission, guiding principles, and advocates for them.

  • Understands the scope of work, regulatory requirements and other special contractual obligations for each customer they are assigned.

  • Attends meetings, participates in conference calls and reads and understands all company communications including policies procedures, Career Development Guide.

  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.

  • COMPUTER SKILLS: Advanced computer software application (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and Internet navigational skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.

  • The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • The work is generally shift work consisting of 12 hours on duty and 12 hours off duty, or 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off duty, depending on the assignment.

Travel:

  • Travel is usually limited to one time per year for live fire burns, 2-5 day duration.

Work Environment:

  • The employee will be exposed to noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud, from open areas to very cramped confined spaces.

  • The employee may be required to work at heights above ground and/or confined spaces within the plant premises.

  • The work environment will subject the employee to heavy traffic conditions both in responding to emergency calls and when attempting extrications at emergency scenes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years old AND

  • One (1) year industrial fire brigade experience

  • Must possess a Transportation Security Administration's "Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card

  • Minimum Training Requirements:

  • State Firefighter 1 or higher

  • Hazardous Materials - Operations

  • NFPA 1041, Fire Officer I

  • State or National Registry, EMR, EMT-B, EMT-A or Paramedic (dependent upon assignment)

  • CPR/AED

  • Desirable Qualifications:

  • NFPA 1081, Exterior Fire Brigade Member

TESTING REQUIREMENTS:

Physical ability test, medical examination, oral interview, drug screening and background verification/checks
