Your Impact
You will be part of the Facility Security Compliance team, based in the Washington, DC office, to support McKinsey Washington (USG) federal Defense & Security work. This team ensures compliance with US government security requirements and enables impact in the Public Sector.
In this role, you will develop a comprehensive operating model for ensuring compliance with defense and security programs that involve access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP). You will support security clearance and SEAD 3 reporting requirements. You will assist in managing the counterintelligence, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and Insider Threat programs. Your responsibilities will include providing security expertise on all aspects of the Industrial Security program.
You'll assist the Security team with maintaining a NISPOM-compliant security program, including self-inspections, Insider Threat Program, security education, and Facility Clearance (FCL) management. You will be responsible for accurate data input and reporting in multiple databases.
You will grow and maintain our counterintelligence and Department of Defense (DOD) CUI programs, including security awareness training for personnel. You will also assist with Insider Threat monitoring and investigations.
As a member of the Client and Regulatory Compliance team and Ethics & Compliance function, you will be expected to be a contributor and thought partner within the function, and support key organizational, operational, or strategic initiatives, as relevant.
You will implement initiatives to enhance our processes and governance approach for public sector client engagement delivery, ensuring the effective management of new or emerging security trends and sector-specific regulatory requirements.

Your qualifications and skills
  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a National Industrial Security Program (NISP) government or contractor security role
  • Top Secret/SCI security clearance with the U.S. government is mandatory; polygraph and experience with SAP and SCI programs are preferred
  • Working knowledge of DISS is required, with additional experience in SWFT, eAPP, NBIS, and NISS preferred
  • Basic understanding of the U.S. Department of Defense CUI program, additional understanding of NIST 800-171 preferred
  • Ability to establish and maintain trust-based relationships with key leaders and peers, creating environments for generous collaboration and thought partnership
  • Exhibits the highest levels of discretion and judgment in safeguarding sensitive materials
  • Strong analytical, issue-spotting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex, sensitive issues
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment and managing ambiguity with confidence
  • Demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset to address ambiguous problems, using data and logical reasoning for decision-making
  • Ability to create work product-focused materials, such as PowerPoint decks, Excel models, articles, or other written deliverables
  • Exceptional time management and strong communication skills in English, with the ability to adjust style for different audiences and seniority levels
