The Department of Music at Columbia University invites applications for a full-time appointment for the Director of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Performance Program at the rank of Associate in Discipline/Lecturer in Discipline (depending on academic credentials) beginning July 1, 2026. The primary duties of the successful candidate will be to teach (2) jazz related courses and coach (6) ensembles per academic year, coordinate undergraduate admissions, and all jazz related program activities and Music Associates. Applicants must have extensive performance experience and previous experience teaching Jazz at the college level. For Associate in Discipline, the MA degree is required at time of appointment; for Lecturer in Discipline, the PhD is required at time of appointment.
