Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director - Pediatric Pharmacy Services.
In this role, the successful candidate The Assistant Director of Pediatric Pharmacy Services is responsible for the coordination of pediatric pharmacy activities, oversight and quality assurance of the pediatric pharmacy satellite.
Job Responsibilities:
To fulfill the core values and mission of NYU Langone Health and incorporate them into the performance of duties.
Develop and maintain a high-level clinical pharmacy practice. Participate in multidisciplinary, bedside rounds, pharmacotherapeutic, pharmacokinetic, and pharmaco-economic consultation.
Ensure the operations, safety and quality of the pediatric satellite are provided.
Supervise the technical/professional activities of pediatric pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Will routinely evaluate current processes to ensure medications are efficiently prepared, delivered and administered to patients in an accurate, safe and expeditious manner.
Contribute to professional development of pediatric pharmacy staff.
Identify and develop policies and procedures that optimize the pharmacy operations while meeting accreditation standards and applicable regulations.
Develops and implements clinical practice guidelines that will enhance pharmaceutical care and medication safety.
Optimize the computerized provider order entry system, clinical decision support system, drug interactions and dose-range checking software.
Develop a system for easy proactive tracking (such as Epic dashboards) of metrics, to use as surveillance and reporting of pediatric workflow.
Contributes to the professional development of staff.
Responsible for planning, communication, implementation and integration of new products into the clinical practice area.
Evaluate performance, conduct annual performance and competency assessments, determine disciplinary actions and perform other human resource related actions as needed.
Hospital committee involvement, as identified and assigned by the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services.
Serve as the Residency Program Director for the PGY2 Pharmacy Residency Program.
Responsible for Pharmacy Resident precepting and scholarly activity.
Maintains professional competency and certification.
Keep informed of all local, state and federal laws covering the storage, handling and dispensing of drugs and for interpreting medication orders to determine that they meet all legal requirements.
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and develop policies or procedures necessary to achieve compliance.
Participate in and/or leads committees relating to medication safety, such as Pediatrics Medication Safety Committee, NICU Q/A, or Nursing Practice Council.
Actively participate in all aspects of safe and timely medication distribution/dispensation, including Swisslog function, Omnicell review, medication cart updates, pneumatic tube function, and medication trays.
Participate in the Clinical Pharmacy On-Call.
Assist in the coordination and development of new programs and services
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Doctoral degree (Pharm. D.) in Pharmacy, M.S. degree or advanced degree in related pharmaceutical field or BS degree with 5 years supervisory experience in academic teaching hospital NYS Pharmacy license.
Required Licenses: Pharmacist License-NYS
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy.
New York State Pharmacist Licensure.
PGYI pharmacy residency training.
PGY2 pharmacy residency training or equivalent salaried professorship at a school of pharmacy.
Board certification in Pharmacotherapy or other specialty is required within 18 months of hire.
Self-motivation, good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Minimum 3 years in progressive pharmaceutical management position.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Leadership qualities

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
