The Safety Data Analyst acts as the subject matter expert on safety data and is responsible for creating analysis and insight deliverables specific to patient safety topics to support our clients in the healthcare industry. The Safety Data Analyst collaborates with the client-facing team, leadership, and peers to meet client analysis and insight needs. Core responsibilities include: preparation of deliverables and comprehensive analytic written reports to demonstrate correlations, trending, or basic predictive analysis. In addition, the Safety Data Analyst will assist in uncovering root causes and generating actionable insights to improve patient safety and reduce harm.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Extract, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured safety data.

  • Identify trends, anomalies, and patterns in patient safety events.

  • Develop dashboards, visualizations, and reports to communicate findings to safety, clinical, and operational leaders, as well as administrative stakeholders. May also develop ad-hoc analytic requests as assigned, which may include execute-level presentations, data segmentation, data trending, or statistical analysis.

  • Must be proficient in data visualization and able to utilize software, including, but not limited to MS Azure tools such as DataBricks, Analytic Services, PowerBI, and MS Office to create meaningful executive summaries and other materials as needed to support a client's improvement journey.

  • Collaboration and Communication

  • The Safety Data Analyst is expected to stay current in best practices both within and external to the healthcare industry, identifying industry trends to influence work.

  • Works closely with Data Science, Engineering, operational leaders, and thought leaders to ensure data integrity and relevance.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, research, data illustration and reporting.

  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and large language models for analyzing narrative event reports.

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, CMS).

  • Certification in patient safety, healthcare quality, or data analytics (e.g., CPHQ, CPPS, CAP).

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to produce quality deliverables with detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently and with a broad range of people in a fast-paced environment to support programs and projects.

  • Experience or knowledge of engagement/culture data preferred.

  • Experience in a similar role or a background in healthcare preferred, but not required.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation; research; data visualization; and reporting.

  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft applications including Excel, Powerpoint, Word.

  • Experience in SPSS or other statistical software is preferred.

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, R or similar data analysis tools.

  • Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to produce quality deliverables with detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently and with a broad range of people in a fast-paced environment to support programs and projects.

  • Experience in a similar role or a background in healthcare preferred, but not required.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required (e.g. business, health science, social science, or technical field) and 2+ years of experience in analytics

  • Master's degree in business, analytics, organizational development, I/O psychology, epidemiology, health services research, economics, quantitative science or related discipline welcomed.

Special Conditions

  • Willingness to work outside business hours to meet deadlines

  • May travel 10% of time for client engagements or company activities.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $90,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus or commission tied to achieved results.
