Are you passionate about technical innovation and ready to shape the future of the food and beverage industry? We're seeking a dynamic Color Product Developer Technologist to join our team, specializing in the application of natural colorants. Your expertise will be key in driving innovation and delivering tailored application support to both current and prospective customers.

In this role, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team including R&D, sales, marketing, quality, and others to bridge the gap between our technical capabilities and customer needs. You will formulate new products, develop process improvements, and perform stability studies. You'll conduct market research to identify and produce samples of applications for new and existing products, contributing to the development of innovative solutions using benchtop and pilot equipment. Technical skills such as colorimetry and UV-VIS spectrophotometry will be vital in performing routine analysis of lab samples and supporting product development.

Additionally, you will offer technical assistance to customers by performing application experiments tailored to specific projects and strategic partnerships. This work can range from surveying color performance in food & beverage systems in a kitchen environment to implementing & validating a colorant in a production-scale food manufacturing plant. You'll also conduct stability studies to assess color performance through processing and shelf-life, while actively participating in interdepartmental planning and customer interactions. Your contributions will play a vital role in maximizing profitability and ensuring long-term business viability.

What You Will Need:

  • High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Enology, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Food Processing, or Food Science.
  • Required to work overtime when necessary.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
    Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Enology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Food Processing, or Food Science plus 2 years of laboratory food and beverage research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility or Master's degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Enology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Food Processing, or Food Science
  • Experience with colors from natural sources in a diverse range of applications.
  • Skilled in reading, analyzing and interpreting common scientific and technical journals.
  • Skilled in responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Skilled in effectively presenting information to top management.
  • Skilled in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing solid conclusions.
  • Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Experience interacting with all levels and functions within the company.

Compensation:

Set rate listed as $24.81 - $37.21 / hour.

Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
