Laboratory Animal Technician I Division of Animal Resources University Research Services & Administration Georgia State University The Division of Animal Resources (DAR) is a unit of the Office of the Vice President for Research & Economic Development. The primary objective of the Animal Resource program is to facilitate the use of animals in research and teaching at Georgia State University while assuring compliance with all applicable regulations. The Animal Resources program maintains responsibilities in animal procurement, animal housing and daily care, the provision of veterinary care, health surveillance and preventative care, assisting investigators and their staff with animal procedures, and the care, maintenance and replacement of relevant equipment and facilities. The Division of Animal Resources at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a Lab Animal Technician I. WHAT MAKES UNIVERSITY RESEARCH SERVICES & ADMINISTRATION A GREAT PLACE?
WHAT WILL YOU DO: This position provides animal care and maintains routine records according to clearly defined standard operating procedures, federal guidelines and regulations. Continual training is provided, and work is reviewed on a regular basis through observation of procedures and review of records to ensure compliance. Errors in following verbal and written instructions regarding the basic care of the animals could jeopardize the health and safety of employees and animals. Such errors may result in injury, illness or loss of research. Employees face potential exposure to animals that may bite and/or scratch or be diseased. Employees lift, carry, push and pull heavy loads on an intermittent basis and work with chemicals and automated equipment. Operational hours are 9:00 AM - 5:45 PM and may work some weekends. The Schedule will be determined by the manager and the employee. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
