GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for the creation, implementation, and management of Bryan Medical Center's safety, security, and emergency management procedures and practices. Promotes a safety conscious corporate culture, ensures organizational policy and procedural compliance, and improves safety performance. Ensures and adheres to all local, state, and federal regulatory standards. Provides key leadership consistent with the Medical Center's mission, vision and beliefs. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. Monitors workplace activities to ensure safe work procedures and practices are being followed; develops prevention strategies as needed. 3. *Responsible for strategic development, alignment, collaboration, coordination, and compliance of safety, security, and emergency preparedness processes, policies, and programs across the organization. 4. *Oversees the development and implementation of security functions to ensure alignment with the organization's footprint, risk exposure, risk tolerance, organizational requirements, and business priorities, as well as preferred practices, industry standards, and applicable laws and regulations. 5. Directs and ensures safety orientation and training are done successfully and effectively. 6. Develops and promotes a culture that harbors safe workers and a safe work place. 7. Oversees the emergency management response administration and training. 8. *Ensures safety and security investigations are completed on-time and accurately. 9. Participates in risk management activities. 10. Provides positive, proactive leadership by example. 11. *Works directly with managers, coordinators, officers and staff to ensure expenses are within budget parameters for areas of responsibility; reviews and analyzes budget and other management reports and takes action as needed to ensure effective and efficient operations. 12. *Hires, trains, supervises, disciplines and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; establishes and maintains job descriptions for areas of responsibility. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, Occupational Safety and Health or another related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience required. Master's degree is preferred. Ten (10) years of experience in the administration of environmental health and safety, security and risk management programs supporting similar key responsibilities required. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in management or supervisory role required. OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Certification in NIMS 100, 200, 700 & 800 to be completed before completion of the first year of employment. Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) is required upon hire or within two (2) years of eligibility. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.) (DOT) - Characterized as sedentary work requiring exertion up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. |
