Under general direction from the Director of the University Honors Program (UHP), and in collaboration with the Third- and Fourth-Year Academic Advisor, the incumbent works with program leadership and campus partners to: develop and implement recruitment, orientation, and academic advising; honors contracts; mentoring; and community building events amongst First- and Second- Year UHP Students. Provides UHP leadership with research on best practices in and assessment of academic advising, service-learning and leadership development to make programmatic decisions. Works with the UHP Director, UHP Events Coordinator, Undergraduate Admissions, Prestigious Scholarships, the Cross Cultural Center, and others, on prospective and incoming first-year student outreach. Coordinates with the Third and Fourth-Year Academic Advisor to build community across all years in UHP and to provide seamless transition between the lower and upper division components of the UHP curriculum. Apply By Date Qualifications Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position * Bachelor's degree in Academic Advising, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs/Services, Student Development, Counseling, or an equivalent discipline (e.g. Human Development, Diversity and Inclusion, Cultural Studies, Psychology, or Sociology) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills in the area of academic advising support were acquired and applied. Preferred Qualifications * Flexibility to contribute as part of a team and to expand position responsibilities in the face of changing priorities in a complex and diverse environment. Organizational skills and experience with project management to identify priorities while under pressure to meet strict deadlines, with numerous parties, and in a fast-paced environment. Excellent planning and execution skills to implement programs for large populations. Key Responsibilities * 60% - Academic Advising & Counseling Department Overview The University Honors Program (UHP) is a four-year, campuswide program for high-achieving and high potential students. Annually UHP participants include 700+ undergraduates and 60 faculty. The First- and Second-Year Academic Advisor serves as one of two staff providing academic advising and mentoring for UHP students. This position focuses on lower division students: both first- and second-year undergraduates in UHP and prospective UHP students. This position takes the lead for the unit in developing evidence-based best practices for first-year advising approaches in support of program retention, degree completion, and post-graduation life planning. This position works in coordination with the Third- and Fourth-Year Advisor to build community across all years in UHP and to provide seamless transition between lower division and upper division elements of the UHP curriculum. POSITION INFORMATION * Salary or Pay Range: $56,000/yr. - $99,400/yr. (Dept. budgeted range: $56,000/yr. - $70,000/yr.
