Purpose of Position |
The
Senior Multimedia Specialist is a strategic and creative leader within the university's Marketing and Communications team, playing a critical role in shaping and amplifying the institution's brand through compelling visual storytelling. This position is responsible for conceptualizing, producing, and delivering multimedia content-especially video-that drives engagement, supports enrollment and advancement goals, and aligns with institutional priorities.
Working closely with both internal stakeholders and external partners, the Senior
MMS leads the development and execution of multimedia strategies across platforms, ensuring consistency, quality, and impact. The role requires hands-on expertise in all phases of video production-from ideation and storyboarding to shooting, directing, editing, and post-production-as well as a strong eye for design and visual composition.
The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of progressive experience in multimedia production with a strong portfolio showcasing video storytelling, editing, excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and collaborate across teams and is a strategic thinker with creative vision, attention to detail and a passion for elevating institutional storytelling. |
Primary Responsibilities |
- Lead the planning, shooting and editing of high-quality video content to tell NKU's story to various audiences and for use in for marketing campaigns, institutional initiatives, academic programs, events
- Develop storyboards/creative briefs in collaboration with the project stakeholders to align multimedia deliverables with university messaging and branding
- Serve as a creative consultant for various departments and stakeholders across campus, helping them translate complex topics into visual narratives
- Actively foster relationships with key stakeholders and seek out NKU stories from faculty, students and staff
- Stay current on industry trends, tools, and best practices to enhance the university's multimedia presence and production quality
- Ensure accessibility and usability of multimedia content, including captioning and ADA compliance. Serve as backup for social media specialist as needed for vacations, etc to monitor feeds/posts
- Manage multimedia vendors or freelancers for high volume or specialized projects

Qualifications |
- Advanced video production (shooting, editing), professional photo/audio editing (adobe photoshop, lightroom, audition), camera operation, studio and field production experiences, multimedia content strategy
- Bachelor's degree in multimedia production, film, digital media, communications, or a related field preferred with a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in multimedia production, with a strong portfolio showcasing video storytelling, editing, and design
