County Social Services Aide 1 (Local Government) - Wayne County C&Y (Multiple Vacancies)

As a Social Services Aide 1, you will function in an entry level position, working closely with caseworkers and other social service aides to provide services in the home to families with children after a caseworker has visited and determined services are approved. This is an excellent opportunity to provide one-on-one assistance and communicate with families to work toward positive goals and outcomes. Work involves providing assistance in all areas of family life including household budgeting, in-home parenting education, proper hygiene, nutrition, cooking /food shopping skills, and maintenance of the home. You may also be required to transport consumers to supervised visitation and necessary appointments. Additional responsibilities include:

• Providing child care when necessary
• Assisting with completion of applications and forms
• Completing written reports of each appointment with consumers
• Participating in meetings with other staff to develop treatment plans and set goals for consumers
• Attending court and testifying

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• This position requires possible travel with overnight stays as well as possible after-hour appointments for supervised visitation and transportation.
• Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Graduation from high school; or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation.
• A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
