The Role:
As a HR Generalist at Chromalox, LaVergne, Tennessee, you'll wear many hats and will be committed to our employee experience. Reporting to HR Manager, the HR Generalist will support all facets of the department including leading talent acquisition for hourly plant staffing needs; assisting in payroll functions; leading employee activities including local community involvement initiatives; assisting with the administration of benefits and advising employees and management on the interpretation of benefit policies, programs, and procedures.
Your Responsibilities:
The HR Generalist will support all facets of HR; key responsibilities will include:
Talent Acquisition (30%)
- Responsible for talent sourcing of hourly, non-exempt positions and maintaining a talent pipeline for roles throughout the plant.
- Build relationships with local organizations, trade schools, universities, veteran's groups to support the talent pipeline.
- Work with hiring managers to create requisitions and keep hiring managers and HR Manager up to date on where candidates are in the process.
- Source candidates through online job boards, local organizations, trade schools and university sources.
- Actively participate in job fairs in the local market and at universities.
- Maintain a calendar for job fairs and tracking records of the candidates/hires from the job fairs for evaluation.
- Conduct pre-screen phone interviews of candidates; for candidates who pass the phone screen scheduling interviews with the hiring manager and other decision makers.
- Maintaining candidate document for quick reference showing where the candidate is in the interview/hiring process.
- Coordination of candidates throughout the hiring process and extending offers to final candidates and regrets to candidates not selected.
- Maintain budget information for ad placement and cost of job fairs.
HR Administrative Support (70%)
- Completes on-boarding process for all new hires, including arranging for background checks, drug screens and I-9 verification.
- Maintains personnel records including documentation of any name changes, rates of pay, and job titles, and changes in wage rates and job titles of employees on payroll.
- Assists in the processing of payroll according to company policy.
- Ensures all garnishments are appropriately recorded and submitted to ADP.
- Provides current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion and employee benefits.
- Carries out administrative work involved in the benefit functions and maintains related records.
- Ensures that programs are carried out in accordance with company's policies and procedures.
- Assists in answering employee questions regarding eligibility and coverage for such programs as health, dental, vision, group life, long- and short-term disability, 401(k), and other employee benefits.
- Ensures compliance with COBRA, HIPAA and assists in filing required State and Federal reports.
- Confers with Human Resource Manager on all compliance issues, policy procedure violations or unusual or non-standard matters.
- Assists the EH&S Manager in maintaining safety training files and ensuring employees complete assigned training modules.
- Works individually and as part of a team on special projects and assignments for Companywide initiatives.
- Under the supervision of the Human Resource Manager assists with planning and coordinating company-sponsored events for employees.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintenance of company bulletin boards compliance and communication.
- Support of company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs, and activities.
- Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or comparable years of experience
- Experience: 5+ years of experience working in Human Resources
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software. ADP Payroll and HRIS systems experience preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and comply with policy/procedures, governmental regulations and employment laws. Requires broad technical knowledge of the laws and regulations surrounding human resources with excellent human relations and people sensitive skills. General business management and communication skills.
- Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to calculate figures and percentages.
- Ability to solve practical problems.
