Overview
The Site Safety Lead is responsible for providing safety coordination and oversight at a designated project location or multiple locations. This role reports to the Regional Safety Manager or Safety Manager and works in partnership with the project foreman to implement Bergelectric's Safety Program at the project location. This is considered to be a safety sensitive position.
Responsibilities
Serves as a role model and leader on site for Bergelectric's "Work Safe. Life Safe." safety culture. Promotes employee participation and engagement with the Safety Program.
- Assists Safety Manager and operations team in project planning activities such as preparing site safety plans, risk assessments, and identifying project-specific training needs.
- Identifies opportunities to recognize employees for safety achievements, and coordinates recognition events on site with oversight of the superintendent.
- Develops and delivers site-specific safety orientation material.
- Provides safety training in areas including forklifts, aerial lifts, confined spaces, fall protection and other technical areas.
- Conducts safety inspections and reviews to assure safety procedures are in place and followed. Intervenes to correct or reinforce worker behaviors and on-site conditions.
- Manages corrective actions generated by inspections or safety reports to assure closure/resolution in a timely manner.
- Conducts and/or prepares Toolbox Talk safety meetings, safety stand downs, and other safety awareness campaigns.
- Coordinates Safety Program with general contractors, including providing records of safety meetings, trainings, and incident reports.
- Conducts jobsite safety walks with various worksite representatives.
- Oversees project safety documentation and records management including authorization of work permits, Lock Out / Tag Out logs, training records, and incident reports.
- Utilizes Bergelectric safety data management systems and processes.
- Responds to safety concerns and incident reports, initiates investigations, and participates in jobsite inspections by regulatory agencies and third parties.
- Escalates incident reports and safety concerns to the superintendent and the regional safety manager in a timely manner.
- Meets regularly with foremen, superintendents, and general contractors to identify and correct any safety issues and takes appropriate corrective actions to correct the problems.
- Manages relationships with client site safety personnel to help address any future issues.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry with an interest in safety and management. Electrical construction preferred.
- 30 Hour OSHA Outreach/Trainer, EM-385 Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, NPFA 70e, Root Cause Analysis Training, Train- the-trainer experience in Lock Out / Tag Out, Forklifts, Scaffolds, Aerial Lifts, and/or other area are preferred.
- Working knowledge of safety rules and regulations including fall protection, silica, confined space, forklift, and scissor lift operation, trenching, scaffolding, energy control/LOTO and general construction safety.
- Safety Trained Supervisor - Construction and/or Construction Health and Safety Technician certification.
- Interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with employees effectively, persuasively, and tactfully at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Effective presentation and training delivery skills.
- Experience managing responses to incidents and gathering documentation.
- Is a team player - a positive, well-organized, proactive force to support profit and growth of the company.
- Promotes overall safety culture and contributes to internal safety communication, promotions, and campaigns.

- Utilize ladders, man lifts, or reach booms.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Full squats, stoop or kneeling.
Working Environment
- This role operates in an active construction and/or warehouse environment.
- This role operates in a mobile environment and may use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
- There may be a variety of weather conditions while on jobsites such as rain, snow, heat.
- There may be high noise levels while on jobsites.
Salary Range
USD $90,000.00 - USD $105,000.00 /Yr.
