Description

The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will be immersed in a wide array of tasks drawing on mechanical/manufacturing engineering course work completed and will collaborate with:



  • Manufacturing Engineers
  • CNC Programmers
  • Master machinists
  • Inspectors
  • Cell leaders
  • Senior Managers


Tasks will vary based on PCX management's view of the personal strengths each intern exhibits after initial tasks are completed. Examples of tasks to be undertaken include but are not limited to:



  • Production of detailed work instructions, to clearly define and outline the process steps needed to be taken by an operator to successfully set up a job that will yield defect free parts.
  • Utilize Siemens NX CAD software to model part manufacturing processes, create operation sheets, design fixtures/tools for traditional machining and/or 3D Printing.
  • Learn and perform work center observations used to garner shop floor employee ideas and suggestions for cost reduction and throughput improvement.
  • Learn to take time-studies to evaluate where the muda or "waste" is in terms on non-value added work, and then brainstorm for the elimination of those wastes.
  • Learn Lean Manufacturing Techniques to evaluate part flow thru the factory and design optimum cell layouts to improve use of space, to promote less walking and wasted travel time, and to make it easier for material handlers to know where the products should be dropped off and picked up.
  • Assist cross-functional teams in performing various technical projects that will improve plant operational efficiency
