Summary: The Medical Assistant will perform a combination of administrative and clinical tasks within the Health and Wellness Center. This person will work alongside other medical staff under the supervision of a physician. This position requires a flexible schedule, including availability Monday through Sunday. The role follows a rotating shift model during the academic year, consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week, scheduled from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Help patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential.
- Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary tests; Temp, BP, Pulse, RR, O2 Sat, Ht/ Wt and reason for the visit. Document appropriately in the EHR.
- Operate diagnostic and screening equipment: EKG's, Sofia, Glucometer, BAC, and U/A.
- Perform POC Quality Controls on Glucometer every day to ensure that it is ready in an emergency.
- Restocking triage and trauma rooms, keeping an inventory of the supplies needed and reporting to DON when supplies are low and need to be ordered.
- Answer phone calls in an appropriate manner, directing calls to the nurses as needed. Taking accurate messages when calls can be delayed.
- Respond and assist to life saving situations based upon established rules and guidelines
- Complete end of shift procedures ensuring all exam rooms are cleaned and machines are charged/plugged in.
- Check all inpatient rooms to ensure all beds are made and bathrooms are clean and ready, making those ready which are in need.
- Collect, wash and fold laundry that has not already been completed by the day and evening shift..
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
- Serve and protect the center by adhering to professional standards; School policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.

Requirements
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage diverse tasks with interruptions
- Emotional maturity and stability to approach highly stressful human situations in a calm and rational manner
- Ability to clearly communicate information concerning a patient's condition
- Possess strong computer skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Possess knowledge of universal precautions and infection control techniques
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1+ years in a medical office
- Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), medical terminology
- Previous experience in a pediatric medical setting is preferred

Salary Description
$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
