The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing CNC machining, assembly, and test operations during second shift. This role ensures personnel, equipment, and processes are aligned to meet quality, delivery, and productivity targets, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, technical rigor, and operational excellence. The Supervisor collaborates with engineering, planning, and EH&S teams to sustain production performance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a safety-first culture by partnering with EH&S; serve as the initial point of contact for all shift safety-related events, ensuring timely response and thorough documentation.
  • Lead and direct CNC machinists and machine operators in executing the production schedule in alignment with safety and quality standards.
  • Support 24-hour manufacturing operations by effectively managing off-shift teams and ensuring seamless shift transitions.
  • Monitor and drive improvements in OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), first-pass yield, and other key performance indicators; actively participate in data-driven problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with process owners and engineers to create, revise, and maintain standard work instructions and work cells to comply with ISO and company standards.
  • Ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently; escalate and track maintenance needs to minimize downtime.
  • Execute TPM (Total Preventive Maintenance) activities and complete required safety self-inspections; uphold 6S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) principles across the production floor.
  • Plan, assign, and adjust workloads based on production priorities, resource availability, and real-time conditions; update shift plans as needed to meet delivery targets.
  • Maintain a consistent and clear shift handoff process, reporting on safety, quality, personnel, equipment status, and shift accomplishments.
  • Foster skill development and accountability through coaching, performance evaluations, and clear communication of expectations and feedback.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and cross-training initiatives to support a flexible and capable workforce.
  • Resolve personnel and process issues through proactive data analysis, structured problem-solving, and close collaboration with HR and other stakeholders.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Proven leadership or team lead experience in a manufacturing or machining environment
  • Effective communicator with ability to lead teams and resolve conflicts in a professional manner
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, production flow, and equipment capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement practical solutions; expertise in identifying, diagnosing and rectifying the underlying causes of complex machining issues
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to model and enforce safe behaviors
  • Capable of working independently and managing priorities under pressure
  • Eligible for forklift/material handling certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNC machining knowledge, including G-code interpretation and toolpath analysis
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and shop floor scheduling tools
  • APICS certification or production planning experience
  • Experience working within ISO-certified environments

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 7+ years of machining experience
  • 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred
  • Technical training, trade school certification, or relevant coursework is a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma or APICS certification preferred

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Combination of office and factory floor work in a climate-controlled indoor environment
  • Frequent standing, walking, and interaction with shop floor equipment and personnel
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds unassisted
  • Use of appropriate PPE and adherence to all safety protocols required

Compensation Details

Annual Salary: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00

Additional Compensation

Salary Range for this position: $70k-85k (the salary offered will be determined based on the applicant's education, experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and will be compared with internal equity along with market data for this position).
