POSITION TITLE: Counseling Services Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Counseling Services Director manages the Counseling and Psychological Services Department. Conduct therapy, assessment and consultation with Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Associates/Fellows at The Scripps Research Institute. Provides outreach services, referrals and crisis debriefing. Responsible for managing the counseling center team, departmental budget and administrative affairs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Performs psychotherapy, assessment and referral for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Associates and Fellows.
  • Completes and manages individual and departmental records such as therapy intake, progress and closing notes; data entry; and correspondence as
  • Proactively performs outreach through presentations, consultation, and
  • Performs management/administrative functions such as developing and following through on department goals; preparing and managing departmental budget; addressing needs of staff;
  • Leads and attends various departmental meetings.
  • Works with a diverse group of individuals at various professional levels, from a host of countries, backgrounds and utilizes education, training and experience to provide guidance and assist clients.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:



    • PhD. or Psy.D in clinical psychology, counseling or social work required.
    • Minimum 10 years work experience as a therapist
    • Experience in management or leadership role preferred
    • Assessment and diagnostic skills
    • Strong written, verbal communication and listening
    • Demonstrated crisis management
    • Leadership, problem-solving, public speaking and planning skills
    • Ability to think creatively and work well with others
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Ability to use a web-based, SQL database to record session utilization and demographics
    • This is an on-campus position requiring 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus, with flexibility to work 1 day per week remotely from home.



    COMPENSATION:

    The expected hiring range for this position is $142,100to $162,900/annually, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
