Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing equipment: electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical problems by making adjustments and repairs on building and production equipment as needed. This position will break equipment down and replace, adjust or repair parts as needed.


Job Duties

  • Strong troubleshooting abilities including proficiency in rapid problem diagnoses in PLC's, AC/DC drives and motors, servo drives, electronic instrumentation, discrete logic controls as well as hydraulic and pneumatic controls.
  • Use equipment as needed: welder, cutting torch and shop equipment to fabricate or repair defective parts as appropriate.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to check tooling and parts.
  • Operate forklift as needed.
  • Assist with production set up and production movement.
  • Maintain adequate supply of parts to service and maintain equipment.
  • Maintain and report records of maintenance performed and parts used.
  • Conduct safety and maintenance checks of building and production equipment and document checks and supply information to management.
  • Conduct performance checks of equipment based on PM service requirement and maintain records of checks.
  • Maintain forklifts and make repairs as needed. Maintain service agreements on larger repair needs on forklift fleet.
  • Install new equipment as needed as well as breakdown, move and set up existing equipment as needed.
  • Follow all safety rules, keep work area clean and comply with all OSHA and AITX Environmental Health and Safety Policies
  • Complies with company's Quality program by following all in house quality processes and procedures and required AAR and FRA rules and regulations as well as any client specific procedures.
  • Run and or route electrical and gas lines as needed.

Experience and Education

  • Strong troubleshooting abilities for hydraulic and pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to read blue prints and schematics.
  • Strong communication skills, be highly motivated, persistent and dedicated
  • Must be able to accommodate on-call responsibilities and work overtime when needed to support production staff.
  • Knowledge of power distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques/instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Codes and electrical system repair and maintenance
  • HVAC repair and maintenance experience
  • Five or more years' experience in electrical/mechanical maintenance field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
