Summary:

The Tax Technical Mentor is a cornerstone of our tax department's talent development strategy. This pivotal role is dedicated to nurturing new associates, equipping them with the deep technical knowledge and practical proficiency essential for a successful transition to the Senior Associate level. You'll serve as their primary subject matter expert, offering hands-on guidance, targeted training, and invaluable mentorship. Through diligent workpaper reviews, accessible office hours, impactful training sessions, and strategic collaboration with project leaders, you'll proactively identify performance trends and partner with our learning and development team to ensure our associates are fully prepared to advance their careers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Workpaper Review & Feedback: Review projects prepared by Associates and provide constructive technical feedback.
  • Performance Trend Analysis & Training: Collaborate with the Integration Career Coach, Project Leaders, and A&A Technical Mentor to identify performance trends and provide targeted training and coaching to address learning gaps.
  • Technical Training Delivery: Deliver individual and group training sessions on tax concepts applicable to the associate level.
  • Learning Milestone Achievement: Ensure employees meet defined learning milestones.
  • Curriculum Development Partnership: Partner with members of the learning and development team to design and deliver impactful learning experiences that support Firm goals.
  • Project Opportunity Diversification: Partner with scheduling and other Technical Mentors to provide diverse project opportunities for associates.
  • Associate Supervision: Supervise the technical development of up to 25 Associates at a time.
  • Efficiency Strategy Development: Review trends in project realization and develop strategies to enhance efficiency.
  • Real-time Support: Hold office hours for associates to ask questions and receive real-time technical guidance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in taxation, or related accounting field
  • Master's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Experience mentoring in a remote environment
  • Tax Technical Expertise: Demonstrated strong command of tax technical concepts, typically gained through 5-7 years of in-charging tax work.
  • Mentorship & Development Focus: Strong understanding of career development principles, coaching techniques, and adult learning theory. A proactive and results-oriented approach with a passion for helping others succeed and grow in their careers.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent ability to build rapport and trust with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Empathetic Problem-Solver: Skilled at active listening and providing meaningful support and guidance to individuals facing career challenges.
  • Organizational & Time Management: The ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
  • Industry Acumen (Plus): Knowledge of accounting industry trends, roles, and career paths, and an understanding of basic accounting principles across various niches.

Compensation Range: $$85,000 to $115,000/year*
