About the Job

100% Research:
Conduct laboratory procedures using tissues from animal models of stress or metabolic diseases. Individual will be provided with written protocols and receive guidance from the PI and other senior researchers in the lab.
Employ various experimental techniques including DNA extraction, PCR, Comet assay, and other in vitro techniques as necessary. Individual will be taught data analysis techniques using various software.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications:
BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years. Proficient record keeping and or database management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently, problem solve, and multi-task.
Team player, open-minded, and willing to learn.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within a laboratory environment.
Experience with DNA damage, PCR and other laboratory assays. Experience in imaging processing and basic data analysis.

About the Department

The Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology's research centers on integrative systems biology of the heart and vasculature, including the close linkages among cardiovascular diseases and obesity, diabetes and metabolism at the whole animal level. The department is ideally positioned to bridge basic science discoveries to clinically relevant applications, spanning from academia to our neighbors in the biomedical industry.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $15.25 per hour - $20 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
