Instrument Mechanic - Fort Stewart - Hinesville, Georgia
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and adjusting various instruments used to measure and control HVAC variables.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspects and repairs instruments used to measure and control HVAC variables such as, pressure, flow, temperature, motion, force, and chemical composition using hand tools and precision instruments.
- Disassembles malfunctioning instruments; examines and tests mechanism and circuitry for defects.
- Troubleshoots equipment in or out of control system and repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Reassembles repaired equipment and tests for conformance with specifications.
- Uses testing instruments such as potentiometer, resistance bridge, manometer, and pressure gauge.
- Inspects instruments periodically and makes minor calibration adjustments to insure functioning within specified standards.
- Adjusts and repairs final control mechanisms, such as automatically controlled valves or positioners.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum requirements for this position include a High School Diploma or equivalent GED (Technical or vocational education in instrument maintenance preferred) plus a minimum of three (3) years' experience in instrument maintenance.
- Strong math skills
- CFC Universal certificate
- Must maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License and ability to maintain military gate pass access are required.
- At least 3 years' experience in operation, maintenance, and repair of control systems; working understanding of current/applicable computer programs (Microsoft operating system, Office, Auto-Cad/Microstation)
- Performs operation, maintenance, and/or repair of HVAC equipment and/or systems; minimum 3 years' experience on older HVAC control systems, 40 hours of manufacturer' s training on DDC controls and 40 hours of manufacturer's training on controls.
- Required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of new manufacturers' training every 3 years
- LONMARK/BACNET certified; Network Enterprise Center certification (Bovernment IT Security Requirement)
- Experience responding to and completing repairs on Demand Maintenance Orders (DMOs).

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members. Ability to write reports. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, fellow employees and customers.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to read and interpret various information to ensure procedures are followed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally be required to lift more than 50 pounds. The employee must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment will require on-call rotation. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold, heat, and inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices, such as masks, goggles, and/or gloves.
