The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the supervisor of site services and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: San Diego / Southern California (Having a driver's license and reliable transportation is required)

What we're looking for

  • Education: High School diploma or GED is required; an Associate's degree or undergraduate degree in a business or science-related field is preferred
  • Experience: 4+ years equivalent experience in customer services/purchasing/or account management
  • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office (Excel) skills, intermediate level
  • Oral and written communication (English & Spanish)
  • Sites where coverage is provided require associates to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Previous experience managing associates is preferred
  • Forklift Certification is a plus
  • Spill containment, IATA, DOT, and Hazwoper training a plus
  • GMP and GLP training is a plus
  • CPR training and OSHA Right to Know preferred
  • Inside sales experience and cross-referencing skills are a plus
  • Knowledge of Information Access and ERP Systems
  • Excellent customer service skills; display a professional can-do attitude
  • Basic purchasing and inventory knowledge
  • High regard for safety
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task oriented
  • Ability to self-manage and self-motivate; forward-thinking
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with both customers and various departments within Avantor
  • Understanding of, and ability to administer Avantor's policies consistently
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety, security clearances, and medical checkups. Safety quality and adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures

Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In this role you will:

  • Coordinates and leads team efforts and performs work related to customer requirements.
  • Coaches and motivates team members to perform job requirements successfully and to meet/exceed goals and objectives.
  • Encourages growth through mentoring, individual professional development, and team development.
  • Management of open order status reports, metrics, and department reports, and SOP/SOW maintenance.
  • Provides training and development as well as back-up to associates to perform required tasks.
  • Performs administrative duties such as providing performance management input, time card review, vacation scheduling, etc.
  • Creates and maintains SOPs, SOWs, SPIs, and KPIs.
  • Provides customer reporting and data analysis.
  • Acts as a liaison between the customer, Avantor Services, and Avantor Sales.
  • Make sound business decisions with limited consultation with the manager
  • A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on a routine basis.
  • Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
