Job Details

The Lead Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist is responsible for the operation of interventional
radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic and interventional
procedures under the direction of a radiologist. Works in concert with the radiologic care team
consisting of physicians, nursing personnel and other technologists to perform specialized interventional
radiographic examinations. Serves as a technical resource on radiologic procedures, assists in developing
and reviewing routine procedures, and participates in the quality assurance and performance
improvement process. The Lead also supports department management with administrative and
leadership duties as assigned, including scheduling, training and mentoring staff IR Technologists, and
may act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the regular supervisor.

Essential Functions
* Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

* Performs interventional procedures, such as vascular "non-cardiac" angiographic, drainage,
biopsies, nephrostomies, catheter insertions, vascular embolization, and other procedures under
the direction of the physician.
* Determines equipment requirements for procedures based on the physician's tentative diagnoses,
and scout films necessary for physician's preliminary viewing.
* Maintains primary oversight of interventional radiographic equipment testing, repair, and use for
the department; liaises with biomedical department and equipment vendors.
* Assists in the development of, delivers and participates in both formal and informal staff training
programs.
* Provides staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards.
* Assures technologist and patient scheduling as well as patient flow is performed according to
department procedure and requirements.
* Performs other related technologist and administrative duties as directed by the supervisor or
manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control, staff schedule/coverage,
training and development, etc.
* Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of needles, catheters, sterile techniques and drugs needed in each exam. Knowledge of
techniques, procedures, use of equipment and hospital /departmental policies.

Job Description

Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or current
validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) Preferred.
AND
Experience:
3 years Interventional Radiology experience required

Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Active ARRT registration

Salary Range

$36.59 to $52.15

The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
