Posting Summary |
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator
SPVR. Reporting to the Associate State Director, this position is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing statewide program execution, marketing, public relations, and stakeholder engagement for the New Jersey Small Business Development Center (
NJSBDC) Network. This position is critical in ensuring the effective implementation of grant-funded initiatives, growing statewide visibility of NJSBDC's services, and creating strong partnerships with external stakeholders to expand the organization's impact on New Jersey's small business community.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Works directly with the CEO/State Director and COO/Associate State Director, leading the strategic planning and execution of multiple large-scale projects, including the management of multi-million-dollar grant-funded programs, statewide branding initiatives, and the coordination of major statewide business events, training programs, and public outreach initiatives
- Serves as the primary marketing lead for the entire NJSBDC network, developing and implementing marketing strategies that ensure businesses across New Jersey are aware of and engaged with the organization's services
- Supervises a full time part-time employees and student interns, ensuring that all logistical, administrative, and operational tasks related to program deployment and outreach efforts are executed efficiently
- Develops comprehensive reports, grant narratives, accreditation documentation, and impact assessments that drive strategic decision-making and support compliance with federal and state regulations
- Leads public-facing efforts by managing relationships with small business-related government agencies, economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, and business associations to strengthen NJSBDC's partnerships, amplify its reach, and increase participation in its business support programs
- Manages complex statewide initiatives, oversees multi-channel marketing strategies, coordinates large-scale events, and drives impactful engagement efforts that strengthen NJSBDC's reputation as New Jersey's leading small business support organization
- Ability to travel to client and SBDC sites, events; must have access to transportation, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and longer days, as required.

Work Arrangement |
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Management, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in project management, marketing, public relations, or nonprofit program coordination

Preferred Qualifications |
- Federal, State, and/or Private grant and contract management experience
PMP Certification (Project Management Professional)- General Cybersecurity Certification with a strong understanding of best practices in cybersecurity.
- Certification in Export and Trade Counseling
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives and marketing materials.

Equipment Utilized |
- Knowledge of graphic art programs such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) for professional content creation.
- Experience with Center IC database for tracking training sessions, managing client data, and documenting event participation and outcomes.
- Advanced knowledge of Outlook, MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft platforms.
- Experienced with Eventbrite for event registration and coordination, and skilled in using Constant Contact for creating and distributing newsletters, event invitations, and promotional materials.
- Experience with Google Workspace (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) and Box for collaborative file management and secure data sharing.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- Able to travel on-site and off-site.
- Assist with event preparation, including setting up materials, technology, and signage for smooth execution.
- Operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment .
- Largely a sedentary role; however, may require the ability to lift up to 25lbs.
