The Production Planner performs various production control activities and ensures that all materials are available to support the production schedule and are consumed in real time. This position reports on the status of materials inventory levels and drives actions necessary to resolve any limitations. Plan and create work orders for the production floor per the forecast.

Responsibilities:



  • Review the detailed production schedule, as defined with Material & Manufacturing Planning Manager, to ensure it continues to meet business priorities and requirements; adjust supply requirements accordingly for the assigned commodity.
  • Utilize ERP system tools to analyze demand and scheduled needs and manage optimal supply and inventory levels to support company objectives.
  • Release planned work orders in support of production needs as required.
  • Support production with issuing material to the production floor, printing system, and accessories kit labels.
  • Material handling and management of material movements between internal work and storage areas and/or outside processing or suppliers to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Review all production changes, limitations and priorities to meet customer orders.
  • Create and manage work orders to make items with focus on timely work order closure.
  • Creating, modifying and submitting purchase requisitions for approval. Completing, obtaining necessary approvals and submitting all supporting documents to Purchasing.
  • Resolve quality related concerns for defective materials in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and adjusting purchasing requirements
  • Posting production schedules
  • Gathering and filing records and reports
  • Generate requests to purchase and track parts through receipt
  • Document overall material needs, including all codes, brands, and contact information necessary to process orders
  • Adjust amounts for existing inventory
  • Ability to understand engineering documents and work closely with members of the engineering team.
  • responsibility of acknowledging issues in the dept and devising corrective action plans to fix the issues
  • work closely with other departments like purchasing, accounting, and shipping/receiving

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in BA or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in inventory control, production planning or related experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems with MRP applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and at all levels of management.
  • Strong experience with material handling
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on process improvement and efficiency.
  • Lean Manufacturing/WCM methodology
  • General understanding of production practices, shipping & sales orders
  • Experience with inventory management systems; Navision, a plus
  • Solid Data entry skills - proficient in Microsoft Office -- Word, Excel, Access
  • Ability to work independently
