Job Summary

The Manager, Facilities and Maintenance leads a team that oversees the ownership of company's grounds, buildings, and equipment, ensuring a safe and functional workspace. This includes the service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, machine and electrical servicing and other similar disciplines for the organization's facilities. Monitors equipment and ensures efficiency and effectiveness. Plans and schedules all maintenance activities for facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Monitor the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, parking lots, and outdoor recreation spaces.

* Ensure proper security measures for the workplace, including collaborating with security system vendors or a team of security professionals including fire, burglar, and weather systems.

* Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities with production scheduling departments as necessary.

* Evaluate incoming work order notifications. Prioritize and assign work orders, ensuring timely completion; review completed work orders for correctness and completeness. Work orders may include but are not limited to the implementation of equipment modifications and preventative and corrective maintenance.

* Remain active on the floor including providing any "hands-on" trouble shooting and maintenance of production equipment.

* Conduct safety inspections of work areas, examine tools/equipment; facilitate safety training to prevent, identify, and correct unsafe conditions or violation of safety procedures and rules.

* Interface with vendors and suppliers as necessary to discuss products used in repair work and/or projects that need to be completed.

* Foster a positive work environment and drive the maintenance team to meet productivity targets and performance standards.

* Supervise contractors and vendors while performing work for the maintenance department on company property.

* Ensure maintenance team members are properly trained in all aspects of their jobs to include safety, quality, and production; recommend and coordinate any safety and technical training.

* Collaborate with building owners and upper management on budgeting for facility's needs.

* Manage the activities of an assigned team. Maintain a positive work environment through leadership, coaching, and providing direction to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the established policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, or directing work, appraising performance, developing team members and resolving problems. Work with Human Resources to resolve more complex team member-related issues.

* Other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education:

* High School Diploma or GED

* Two-year Technical Degree or 4-year Degree preferred

Minimum Work Experience:

* 5 Years of progressive industrial maintenance

* 1-3 years of supervisor experience preferred

* Relevant experience in the consumer products, packaging & manufacturing or distribution industry is preferred

License(s) / Certification(s): * None

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Strong knowledge of production packaging equipment and maintenance standards.

* Strong knowledge of OSHA workplace safety standards.

* Knowledge of widely accepted manufacturing standards of practice

* Good communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.

* People management skills and the ability to effectively influence others.

* Leadership skills and the ability to lead a diverse team of coworkers.

* Critical thinking skills and the ability to be a problem solver.

* Ability to have regular and predictable attendance.

* Ability to work cooperatively with team members.

* Ability to work in a constant state of awareness.
