What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Renewable Energy Business Unit. SCS Energy focuses on renewable energy design/build/operate projects in the renewable biogas and renewable power markets. We want to achieve renewable energy goals, reducing greenhouse gases, and creating useful by-products from waste with SCS plants. SCS builds systems that power universities, wastewater treatment plants, generate renewable natural gas sales, support electric utilities, and dairies, all moving to renewable energy. We prefer that you are hybrid in our Long Beach, CA Headquarters, but we are open to other SCS offices or remote work based on experience.



How you can make an impact

    Assist the project manager in all aspects of Engineering or EPC project execution from project award, through commissioning and project closeout.
  • Coordinate with the engineering disciplines, vendors, and clients to coordinate design deliverable documents. This position leads design alignment and ensures contract compliance.
  • Coordinates engineering activities with Procurement Department assuring excellent communication and review of vendor documents and approval prior to approval.
  • Generation of construction request for proposal packages including bid conditioning and commercial/technical evaluations.
  • Assist in local, county and state project permitting requirements.
  • Coordinate/lead engineering, supplier or client meetings as required.
  • Provide guidance to SCS Construction regarding contracts, engineering requirements, material coordination and overall project execution.
  • Lead closure on construction generated RFIs.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage junior level staff.
  • Serve as the primary lead and point of contact for smaller scope projects.
  • Assist/lead the project manager in change management including change order generation.
  • Assist the project manager in scheduling and budgeting activities.
  • Confirms designs meet applicable codes and standards including company and applicable industry standards.
  • Trouble-shoot existing systems in the field, determine modifications to existing systems to change performance, etc.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Will consider other engineering majors such as Chemical Engineering if experience is relevant to this Project Engineer role.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience required. Oil & Gas, RNG, an/or piping experience is preferred.
  • Being a P.E. is a plus. E.I.T. required.
  • AutoCAD proficiency is required.
  • Bluebeam experience preferred.
  • Navisworks (or other 3D modeling) experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Pressure Vessels is preferred.
  • Travel: Project Engineers should have the ability to travel up to 25% of the time, with monthly travel to appropriate project sites for surveillance and support. Travel will be within the US only. Typical trips are 2-4 days, with 2-3 nights stay, though extra time maybe required sometime.
  • Working experience with PFD's and P&ID's required.
  • Good understanding of process piping and equipment.
  • Experience selecting fixed and rotating equipment (i.e. compressors, pumps, pressure vessels, tanks and heat exchangers.)
  • Able to evaluate, select and adapt standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required due to travel and site visits.


Pay Range

USD $85,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /Yr.
