Who we are looking for:

Cornerstone Home Lending is seeking an experienced Post-Closing Quality Control Auditor to join our team! The PC Quality Control Auditor will assist the QC Department by compiling reports, managing data between the department and third-party vendors, and completing discretionary audits as needed.

Key Responsibilities:



  1. Review third party (post-closing vendor) audit results

    1. Obtain reports and audit results from third party dashboard for download into Excel
    2. Assist senior underwriter/team lead in review of findings against loan files provided to vendor to validate
    3. Provide rebuttal information to vendor for invalid findings
    4. Work with underwriting and production staff to mitigate valid findings at direction of senior underwriter/team lead
    5. Provide reports with validated findings to the Director by pre-established deadline
    6. Maintain productivity as established by the Director
    7. Ensure that red flags and suspicious activity are elevated to the QC Manager for review
    8. Maintain current knowledge of all agency and investor guidelines
    9. Maintain current knowledge of all Cornerstone guidelines and overlays


  2. Prepare for and perform discretionary audits

    1. Create internal discretionary audit spreadsheets each month
    2. Complete internal discretionary audits as directed on selected loans within specified time frame


  3. Special projects and team goals as assigned

    1. Work with the quality control team to define quarterly and annual goals
    2. Assign and delegate individual duties in response to state, federal, or agency examination requests to ensure a complete and timely response
    3. Complete special audits and projects as assigned by the QC Manager or Director in a timely manner





What you'll need to be successful:




  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience;
  • Minimum of 2 years of underwriting, operations, or quality control experience in the mortgage industry; Familiar with Desktop Underwriter, Collateral Underwriter, Loan Prospector, and TOTAL Scorecard;
  • Able to calculate income and assets and reconcile credit information in accordance with investor requirements and industry standards
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting and appraisal red flags;
  • Strong communication skills necessary to communicate with team members, vendors, and production staff;
  • Strong research and computer skills;
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State laws applicable to mortgage banking;
  • Strong reasoning, problem solving, and critical thinking skills;
  • Ability to pay significant attention to details.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
