Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position will provide safety and servant-based leadership to achieve breakthrough production results on assigned production system. This position is also accountable for developing and delivering the daily, weekly, monthly and 90-day plans to deliver performance goals. The Manufacturing Team Leader is accountable for driving out losses using rigorous Daily Direction Setting and developing the plan for the day. They will have ownership of Safety, Quality, System Utilization (SU), Actual vs. Schedule (AVS) and Clean Inspect Lubricate (CIL) systems and Planned Stops. The Manufacturing Team Leader owns ensuring the development of the operating teams' technical capability.

The Manufacturing Team Leader (Day Shift, Friday-Monday) will be spending majority of the time on the floor with the operating teams building the capability of the people in their area, helping the technical team in troubleshooting, driving accountability and building skills among the operators and mechanics. This position works with the Line team to deliver breakthrough results and is ultimately accountable for the results of the system. The Line Lead will support the capability building of the Process Lead and Maintenance Lead roles and should be able to cover their responsibilities in any short-term absence. The Line Lead will be responsible for the management of the platform budget to ensure Cost per Case (CPC) target is met including, but not limited to, overtime management, destroys, hold orders, etc.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Owns Human and Food safety for the system/platform and action plans for improvement.
  • Be an incident commander in the event a pressing safety, maintenance, quality, or production incident occurs. Escalate and Coordinate with necessary resources to help manage the incident.
  • Educate, develop, and motivate a manufacturing work group to achieve required production results, improving individual technical skills, and enabling collaboration across boundaries.
  • Develop and lead projects that will save on costs, reduce waste, improve safety, or improve production/sanitation key performance metrics throughout the plant.
  • Working closely with line teams and supporting department personnel to drive production results, drive out losses, and support R&D or improvement initiatives happening on the off shifts across all platforms.
  • Ensure that production facilities and finished products meet the company and government standards for quality, sanitation, and safety.
  • Owns/Participates/Support Daily Direction Setting process including:
    • Leads daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly - including Recognition of team members.
    • Lead the development and execution of Plan for the Day - including development and handoff of plan for off shifts.
    • Health of CIL system
  • Supports development and leads execution of the 90-Day improvement plan to deliver the glidepath through loss elimination
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and coaching to platform team members and other direct reports.
  • Builds capability in technicians, to identify, measure and drive out losses on their equipment.
  • Owns identifying training gaps for the technicians and other support staff on the system as well as developing and ensuring execution of training plan to address these gaps.
  • Demonstrate Technical acumen for the lines/systems, and support the operators and mechanics in troubleshooting and mitigation equipment and processes losses
  • Owns the following for the assigned line/system:
    • Manufacturing data integrity
    • Health of Process Centerline system: Leads identification of centerline targets, documentation of standards, and coaches the Line Team and technicians through the execution, problem solving and change management
    • Rate Strategy - Conduct capability studies
    • Changeover management system: Leads closing the gap against specific metrics (Human and Food Safety, Mean Time Between Failure, overuse, etc.), timeliness and success of changeovers
    • Ensures line/system is meeting product attributes and process parameters that drive them
    • Develop basic technical capability of operators on your line (machine and material interface)
    • Identifies and addresses safety risks related to top losses (equipment interaction) and changeover activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of manufacturing operations experience
  • Experience troubleshooting technical problems and responding to technical challenges
  • Good interpersonal communication and listening skills.
  • Good analytical and business understanding.
  • High learning agility
  • Technical acumen
  • Experience with MS Office, especially MS Excel
  • Engineering Degree required for future progression within Engineering

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. or B.A. degree, preferably in Math, Science, or Engineering
  • Experience leading change
  • Previous manufacturing leadership experience.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $68700.00 - $103200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
