The Cisco Distributed System Engineering (DSE) group is at the forefront of developing products that power the largest networks in the world. We are looking for developers and leaders who are passionate about tackling complex technology, building large scale distributed systems and comfortable working with open-source communities and technologies. You will be part of a fast-paced work environment and responsible for end-to-end product development and production support.

Your Impact

The AI Lab Operations and Infrastructure Engineer will provide network, system administration and general operational support for Engineering labs located in San Jose, California.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Manage and execute lab setup, including hardware and software configurations, to support various testing and operational needs.
  • Handle tasks related to physical network infrastructure, such as cabling, connectivity, and hardware installation, ensuring seamless communication and functionality across systems.
  • Oversee and resolve power and cooling issues within the lab environment, ensuring optimal operational conditions. This includes monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementing solutions to maintain system stability and efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience working in lab environments, including setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and software systems.
  • Experience with hardware components, including installation, configuration, and performance optimization within a laboratory environment.
  • Practical experience working with Linux operating systems, particularly in academic or research settings, with a focus on system administration and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience in automating tasks using Python, including scripting and integration with APIs, gained through academic or professional projects.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, with the ability to configure and troubleshoot network communication issues effectively.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer science or related STEM field.
