About the Role

The Director, Commercial Strategy will serve as a strategic leader in the Growth Team, driving business growth and profitability within the Tax, Accounting, Audit Professionals (TAAP) segment through the development and implementation of innovative commercial strategies for new products and emerging categories. This role will focus on implementing next-generation commercial models and charting the migration path of mature businesses and products into these new models. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Development, Product Marketing, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Sales, to identify emerging trends, capitalize on new opportunities, and drive business transformation. The Director will provide strategic guidance, leadership, and mentorship to teams, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Execute Commercial Strategies:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement commercial strategies that drive growth, profitability, and innovation for new products and emerging categories, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence.

  • Lead Cross-Functional Teams:Assemble and lead high-performing teams to navigate commercial opportunities and risks, ensuring alignment with business unit goals and global commercial standards.

  • Drive Business Transformation:Develop and execute commercial transformation strategies, leveraging fit-gap analyses, to ease the migration between backend systems and position the business-line for future growth.

  • Provide Strategic Guidance:Collaborate with TAAP executives, senior leadership, and partner team leadership to ensure alignment with commercial strategies and provide guidance on emerging trends and opportunities.

  • Foster Innovation and Excellence:Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, promoting a culture of innovation, conducting measured experiments, and driving continuous learning.

  • Analyze Market Trends and Competitive Landscape:Stay up-to-date on market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions and identify new opportunities.

  • Represent the Business Unit:Serve as a key representative of the TAAP business unit in cross-functional meetings and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business unit interests and goals.

  • Commercial Policy Steward:Act as owner of commercial policies within TAAP and liaison with Commercial Policy team to ensure alignment and governance for these policies by the revenue team.

  • Monitor and Analyze Performance:Track and analyze the performance of commercial strategies, making adjustments as needed to optimize results.

  • Partner with Finance, Pricing, and Analytics:Collaborate with Finance, Pricing, and Analytics teams to model and assess business impacts for commercial models and strategies.

  • Drive Collaboration and Alignment:Foster collaboration and alignment across cross-functional teams, including Product, Product Marketing, Finance, and Sales, to ensure strategic priorities are defined and executed.

  • Commercial Strategies and Plans:Develop and implement commercial strategies that drive growth and profitability for new products and emerging categories.

  • Business Transformation Plans:Create and execute commercial transformation strategies that ease the migration between backend systems and position the business-line for future growth.

  • High-Performing Teams:Assemble and lead high-performing teams that navigate commercial opportunities and risks.

  • Scenario Models and Analysis:Lead the creation of scenario models (e.g., Financial, Risk, Customer Experience) to inform key decisions.

  • Galvanized Execution Teams:Create and lead execution teams that effectively put strategies into practice.

  • Analytical Instrumentation:Implement analytical instrumentation that generates meaningful insights to support ongoing iteration of commercial strategies.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.

  • 7+ years of experience in commercial strategy, business development, growth or demand creation, or a related field.

  • Leadership experience with a focus on informal influence and collaboration in a networked organization.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful commercial and go-to-market strategies.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret market data.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally, and with stakeholders and team members at all levels, to co-create a product with a superb customer experience and maximum business impact

  • Comfortable driving experiments that value both success and failure as key learning opportunities, and leveraging data to make improvements accordingly

  • Entrepreneurial approach: willing to 'roll up sleeves,' be innovative, take risks; is passionate, a self-starter, persistent despite obstacles; comfortable with ambiguity and evolving requirements

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $154,000 - $286,000.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
