What You'll Do
- Supervise a team of technicians and fabricators, providing leadership and guidance on all technical issues
- Oversee the scheduling and completion of repairs and maintenance on the fleet of tractors and trailers, ensuring that all work is completed and in compliance with DOT regulations
- Perform routine maintenance checks including inspecting brake system, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, electrical system, and air systems
- Repair and maintain company tractors and trailers using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair engine/driveline/ABS related issues utilizing sound mechanical knowledge and computer based diagnostic programs
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records of fleet activities, including repairs, maintenance work orders, PM's and invoices
- Responsible for ordering parts required to perform maintenance
- Be able to work independently under minimal supervision
What You'll Need
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of technicians and fabricators.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications, including fleet management software, Microsoft Office, and database management systems
- Must have valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather
- Must have own tools
- Knowledge of fleet maintenance and repair practices, as well as relevant safety regulations and standards, including DOT compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop solutions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail to find root cause for equipment failures
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification
- Capable of performing a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending, climbing and kneeling
- Experience with a wide variety of tools related to mechanics/hydraulics
- Vast knowledge of troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and mechanical issues
- Experience with basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, and vehicles
- Fundamental knowledge of bearings, power transmissions equipment, electrical, hydraulic/pneumatics, lubrication, and fluid pumping systems
- Possess proficient skills utilizing hand tools, power tools and precision tools for performing all facets of the repair and maintenance process
- Possess specific knowledge of both diesel engines and hydraulic systems
- Proficient in reading and understand technical documents, diagrams, and service manuals
Your Education
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
