About the Role

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Team Lead is responsible for the daily coordination of assigned area.This includes training and monitoring production processes of a small group of team members. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing a safe work environment, ensuring standard work is being performed, maintaining 5S levels, identifying and resolving quality issues, identifying, and resolving quality issues, implementing lean concepts and improvements, addressing line stop/lost production issues, collecting data and maintaining visual displays, participating in TIP Events, and filling in for absent team members on an as needed basis per supervisor's request.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Enters and retrieves production information onto a computerized data entry screen or a custom-designed form.

  • Trains new team members.Communicates company philosophies and policies, teaches, and demonstrates work routines.

  • Studies daily production schedules and estimates team members hours and materials/equipment needed to complete assignments.

  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment and tools that improve workflow, efficiency, and team member safety.

  • Maintains records of day-to-day activity including time and materials and process steps.

  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

  • Use of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Assists in the compilation of data, trend analysis, and other pertinent information for KPI board display and daily kickoff meeting communication.

  • Assists in the handling and response to internal/external escalation requests.

  • Use Oracle/TMS software via use of PC and or RF mobile equipment.

  • Perform inventory transfers to consolidate or reposition inventory per policies within the warehouse.

  • General housekeeping duties keeping warehouse storage locations, aisles, equipment, staging areas, and workstations neat, organized and 5S.

  • Use of PIT up to 15,000 lbs. in a safe and efficient manner including Sit-down Forklift, Reach Truck, Order Picker, Stacker, Electric Pallet Jack, and Work Assist Vehicles.

  • Move materials through facility with use of manually powered carts and fixtures in a safe in and efficient manner.

  • Efficient and timely handling of all materials.

  • Flexibility to work in all areas of the warehouse.

  • Follow Standard Work Procedures.

  • Commitment to safety, quality, inventory control, and the principles of Lean.

  • Escalation of key issues to Supervisor/Manager.

  • Assists in shipping & receiving complaints, freight damage, and corrective action review and implementation.

  • Research and resolve aged inbound/outbound lines in WIP that exceed dock to stock and OTS goals in a timely manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • HS diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Minimum 1 year experience with PIT equipment. Current PIT license preferred.

  • Minimum of 2-years previous experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess a good understanding of Lean and its principles.

  • Understands the importance of continuous improvement/change and demonstrates a positive mind set and assists supervisors/managers in establishing positive/constructive change management with all warehouse personnel.

  • Actively engages in projects not limited to but including inventory moves, racking configuration, and bin changes, work cell and 5s layout changes, and work instruction evaluation and revisions as assigned.

  • Flexibility and ability to work in an environment that is fluid with constantly changing priorities and continually improving.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently and as part of a team.

  • Self-motivated and ability to work without constant direction.

  • Knowledge of inventory control.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to make timely and independent decisions.

  • Comfortable and experienced working both with PC and RF mobile equipment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills.

  • This position requires a complete understanding of all processes in the area of assignment sufficient to organize a small work team, train new team members, examine work results, and complete production requirements.

  • Requires sufficient human relations skill to conduct one-on-one training and achieve harmony with team members.

  • Excellent customer service focus and the ability to handle stress and often work at an urgent pace.

  • Requires sufficient problem-solving skills to troubleshoot situations such as labor and material shortages, tool and equipment problems, while maintaining productivity.

  • Requires the ability to perform the various aspects of the job. Requires sufficient reasoning ability to understand detailed, yet repetitive, written, and oral instructions, and solve straightforward, immediate problems. Requires the ability to perform arithmetic calculations and read and record detailed measurements, counts, distances, and times. Requires the ability to learn and understand safety, continuous quality, and just-in-time within a reasonable period of time. Requires the ability to instruct others.

  • Requires the ability to lift, pull, push, and guide medium weight objects up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

  • Requires ambulatory ability to walk, stand, reach, stoop, bend, and crawl on a continuous basis.

  • Requires sufficient hand-arm-eye coordination to guide objects into specific placement or alignment, make intricate connections, and make precise measurements.

  • Requires visual acuity to observe moving objects and events, select, and place materials.

  • Requires auditory ability to project voice in a production environment and hear instructions.

The salary range for this position is $24.15 to $29.93 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
