The Weitz Company is hiring a Prequalification Coordinator to be located in Des Moines, IA, for the Mission Critical Business Unit.
The Prequalification Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the subcontractor prequalification process for an assigned business unit with hyperscale projects, to ensure qualified partners are assessed for upcoming construction projects. This role will support preconstruction, estimating and operations teams, by reviewing subcontractor pre-qualification materials, including financial, safety and other related documents to mitigate risk, ensure compliance and maintain approval status reports. The Prequalification Coordinator typically reports to the Director of Preconstruction.

What You'll Do:
- Coordinate the subcontractor prequalification process, to include outreach, providing responses to general inquiries, ensuring submission deadlines are met, reviewing submitted documents and compiling submissions for review by management
- Collaborate with preconstruction, estimating, project teams and other stakeholders to provide pre- qualification status updates and evaluate subcontractors based on qualification criteria
- Evaluate and maintain subcontractor pre-qualification status and information in assigned database; escalate to management as necessary
- Track expiration dates for identified pre-qualification-related documents (i.e. insurance certificates, safety records, licenses, financial statements) and annual renewals; process and request updated documents as needed
- Ensure subcontractor pre-qualification data and contact information remains current; partner with respective business units, project teams or subcontractors for needed updates
- Assist in development of and adherence to company prequalification policies and procedures
- Attend preconstruction and operations meetings to provide pre-qualification information or updates; record and distribute meeting minutes as requested
- Foster professional business relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to support smooth project execution
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
- Education:
- A business-related associate's degree is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience:
- A minimum of three years of prior administrative work experience is strongly preferred, specifically within the construction-related industry.
- Experience with accounting, basic invoicing and general construction documents and standards is desired.
- Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Independent judgment and flexibility to coordinate multiple projects
- Maintain a pleasant and positive attitude, even in difficult and stressful situations
- Technology:
- Candidate should have experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Employee should have the ability to learn specific software (JDE, Procore, PDF-writer, etc.).
- Training will be provided on company standards.
