Daikin Applied is seeking an HVAC Controls Technician Helper in Washington DC for Summer 2025! The HVAC Controls Technician Helper will partner with controls technicians in the installation, programming, and service of commercial building digital control systems. These responsibilities can increase based on exposure to tasks, dependent on ability to develop a troubleshooting skillset and consistent and accurate completion of assignments. You will gain exposure to Daikin-branded controls as well as third-party controls systems repped by the local office. What you will do:



  • Collaborate with controls technicians as they integrate, commission, and troubleshoot direct digital control systems
  • In partnership with controls technicians:

    • Assist in maintaining building automation systems by inspecting trend logs, reports, schedules, applications, hardware, and programming
    • Implement modifications to existing systems as requested by the customer for buildings under preventative maintenance contracts
    • Create and/or implement programming and graphics for new installations and retrofit projects
    • Commission controls installations and verify that control sequences meet scope, design, and/or specifications
    • Provide customer demonstration and training on new and retrofitted systems
    • Provide daily status reports after each call, explaining technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Provide responsive and professional customer service with the goal of building and maintaining long-term customer relationships


  • Partner with controls technicians to provide controls technical support to HVAC technicians
  • Record and submit timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
  • Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning.
  • Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
  • Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications:



  • In pursuit of High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Current first aid / CPR card
  • Completion or current attendance of high-level STEM courses

The typical hourly pay rate for this position pays $21.00 per hour in Maryland. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
