Overview

The Wastewater and Pre-Treatment Technican works with the maintenance, quality and production teams to provide high quality metal finishing to customer specifications and dispose of process waste according to government regulations.



Responsibilities

General functions:

    Follow all safety rules including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) 100% of the time
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with members of the chemistry, maintenance, quality and production teams on chemistry and safety concerns
  • Communicate any issues or anomalies to the Chemistry Lab and Process Manager
  • Understand the 5S principles and execute 5S in work area keeping it clean, neat, unobstructed and return all equipment used to its proper location
  • Able to prioritize issues and tasks so that the most important items are completed first

Wastewater Treatment:

  • Proficient with Waste Water Treatment (WWT)
  • Ensure wastewater discharge is below regulated limits
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise with the help of the Chemistry Lab and Process Manager and/or Head Chemist's guidance
  • Follow checklists to ensure all pH/ORP readings are within range, strainers are cleaned, and there are no solids in the clarifier discharge.
  • Filling day tank and Making adds

Chemistry:

  • Titrate chemical tanks on a timely basis and record titration results in database and make chemical additions
  • Assure that all analysis records, checklists, and paperwork are completed and correctly filled out
  • Fill chemical day tanks and replace empty chemical drums
  • Temperature and pH control of process tanks
  • Tank preventative maintenance and cleaning

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with management and peers openly.
  • Ability to efficiently assist in leading a team and coordinate work with other departments.
  • Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.
  • Knowledge of Basic Print reading and torque values.
  • Know when to escalate issues that require additional technical or leadership support.
  • Basic Computer knowledge.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within a highly technical environment.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Previous experience working within a powder paint department.
  • Previous forklift experience.
  • Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment.
  • General understanding of Metric and Standard systems.
  • Associates degree in related technical field preferred.
  • Prior lead experience, preferably in a painting process department or a powder coat paint department.
  • Microsoft Office skills. Ideal candidate would also have SAP experience
  • Certification in Waste Water treatment process.
