Description Under direct supervision this position is accountable to the bedside RN and charge nurse to facilitate a safe and secure environment for the patient, family and providers in the department in completion of the duties delegated to them for the shift and maintaining clear communication between the needs of the patient through the RN and Charge Nurse. Required Qualifications: Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders. Or Upon hire: National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association. Or Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association. Or Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association. Or Upon hire: National Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner - American Health Information Management Association. Or Upon hire: National Certified Health Data Analyst - American Health Information Management Association. Or Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association. Or Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association. 3 years Coding multi-specialty physician services in a group or academic setting. 3 years Education of providers in ICD9 and CPT4 coding principles. 3 years Auditing medical documentation to determine coding and billing adequacy. 3 years Third-party medical insurance billing. 3 years Working with GE/IDX practice management/billing software (or equivalent).
