OVERVIEW
Merrick & Company is looking for an experienced Project Accounting Lead to join our team. This position will provide direct involvement with a project accounting team, the project teams, as well as other members of the accounting department. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and teamwork skills. Someone who can be aggressive, but tactful, in communicating, discussing, and resolving accounting and invoice related problems with the team, striving to correct issues in a timely manner. Must have the ability to balance speed with quality of results and prioritize while working in a fast-paced environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Project Support
- Responsible for set-up and maintenance of projects in Merrick's financial system.
- Prepare invoices, monitor unbilled fees, be aware of and elevate non-current amounts.
- Understand revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and understand what drives the differences between revenue recognized versus hours worked and billed to date.
- Anticipate project financial needs beyond invoicing and work with Project Managers, Project Assistants, or Project Controls to supply additional information needed to manage the project.
- Lead Support
- Manage a team of ~4 project accountants through their project support questions and guidance.
- Provide support and training to end users, including developing solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
- Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience working at an Architecture/Engineering firm is a plus.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is a plus, along with two (2) years' experience OR a minimum five (5) years' experience in a Project Accounting function.
- Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to work independently. Detail oriented, organized, and disciplined. Friendly, courteous, and positive in nature. Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.
- Local candidates strongly desired.
- Must have a high level of computer literacy in MS Excel, with ability to calculate and analyze numerical data using MS Excel functions and calculations.
- Proven ability to learn new systems quickly is essential.
- Comfortable with using large datasets to analyze projects and prepare client invoices.
- Ability to calculate and analyze numerical data utilizing, but not limited to the following functions; Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and If Statements.
