APPLY The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Cornell is a world-class department that conducts research and teaching in the area of general molecular biology and genetics. The Tumbar Lab focuses on the understanding of basic mechanisms that regulate the fate of stem cells within tissues. We are currently studying adult epithelial stem cells in the skin, with special emphasis on hair follicle and the inter-follicular epidermis stem cells using cell culture as well as human and mouse skin as model systems. We are searching for a Bachelor graduate with a Biology Major who is available immediately for a Research Tech IV position, in the Tissue Stem Cell Biology Lab led by Tudorita Tumbar, Professor in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Cornell University. The successful candidate should have at least 1-2 years of lab experience in areas related to our work. The candidate will in part (~40% time) cover lab-managing functions including ordering reagents, lab equipment maintenance and other lab-organization functions, such as scheduling group meetings. For the remaining 60% the candidate will assist with experimental and biocomputational genomic analysis work as follows: mouse-breeding and genotyping related work; tissue collection and processing; performing cell and molecular biology procedures including cell culture work, fluorescence microscopy, fluorescence activated cell sorting, sample processing for genomic analysis. Relevant lab experience in these areas is required. This is a one-year fixed term appointment with benefits, with possibility of extension depending on funding. Required Qualifications:
