Our scope includes ground infrastructure components, and we are looking for a dedicated professional to help us deliver on this critical initiative.
Major Responsibilities
- Schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of civil/structural engineering work.
- Participate in the design, development, and modification of civil/structural components and processes.
- Design structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.
- Determine the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete.
- Originate and check structural engineering deliverables.
- Analyze problems with conflicting design requirements and propose solutions.
- Assist in preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and change orders.
- Provide assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project requirements.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard civil engineering methods and techniques.
- Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.
- Design facilities, roadways, site layouts, and grading plans.
- Prepare or assist in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
- Provide technical assistance to other civil personnel and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel.
- Support construction by dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reports.
- Act as a mentor or coach for subordinate engineers and designers.
- Lead and/or participate in technical discussions with clients, suppliers, and construction teams.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- US citizenship is required per contract requirement.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Experience in designing facilities, roadways, site layout, and/or grading plans.
- Ability to independently execute the design of facilities, roadways, site layout, and/or grading plans.
- Experience with CADD applications, such as Civil 3D, Revit, or MicroStation.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables and construction methods.
- Ability to express technical issues clearly, both written and verbally.
- Possess active security clearance.
- Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
- Experience with procurement automation tools.
- Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications or SpecsIntact.
- Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
