Claims Process Owner

Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join the Stop Loss Claims department with two new openings as Stop Loss Claims Trainer and Process Owner.

About the role

We are seeking two highly motivated professionals to lead business process improvements and cross-functional initiatives. Both positions will play key roles in facilitating change management, supporting special projects, mentoring, and driving measurable outcomes aligned with team goals. Candidates should bring strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills, ideally with experience in stop loss insurance or a related field.

What you will do



  • Coordinate and deliver training for new and current employees; update procedures and workflows
  • Maintain training materials and propose process improvements
  • Collaborate with management and teams to identify best practices and implement improvements
  • Conduct training follow-ups and provide feedback to management
  • Improve data flow, communication, and documentation across processes
  • Work with partners to enhance systems, maintain databases, and develop training resources
  • Support reporting, benchmarking, and analytics efforts
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet goals
  • Assist leadership with special projects, presentations, and meeting notes
  • Provide claims processing support during peak periods and collaborate with the team
  • Act as a resource across departments and lead projects to improve training programs
  • Represent the team at industry conferences and events

Compensation

Salary Range: $77,600 - $129,400 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Who You Are:



  • High School Diploma required; BA/BS preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in stop loss or a related industry
  • Knowledge of stop loss insurance preferred
  • Experience using database systems
  • Some exposure to ESL (Enterprise Service Layer) is helpful
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand technical processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing
  • Ability to elicit buy-in, commitment, and collaboration from others to achieve successful outcomes
  • Results-driven with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal and facilitation skills, with the ability to build consensus
  • Familiarity with process-based technology to support business, IT, and operations initiatives
  • Experience developing integrated solutions and processes for new or complex stop loss products
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and environments
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Broad business experience with a track record of resolving complex issues creatively and effectively
