Sentara Obici Hospital, located in Suffolk, Virginia is hiring an ICU (Intensive Care Manager) to lead our ICU Team!

Sentara Obici Hospital is a 175-bed community hospital. Founded in 1951 in the heart of Suffolk, Virginia. We relocated to a new state of the art facility in 2010. Our facility has been Magnet designated since 2018. We are proud of the nursing structures we have in place that empower our nurses to transform care at the bedside: our Nurse Residency Program for new grads, shared governance councils, evidence-based practice, and commitment to lifelong learning.

Overview

The Clinical Nurse Manager has overall accountability for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. You will be supervising patient care services staff, ensuring excellent patient safety and quality outcomes as well as extraordinary patient/family experience. Some of your responsibilities will include interviewing, hiring, developing and retaining staff with the goal of developing a highly reliable team. You must demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills to achieve unit and corporate goals. You will assist in the development and monitoring of unit budget, coordinating purchasing and payroll processes, and serve as a clinical resource to team members. You will be leading initiatives such as the Code Blue Committee and the Divisional Critical Care Practice Forum.

We are an 18-bed Intensive Care Unit with an average daily of 16. Our unit earned the Beacon Award. We care for medical and surgical requiring a higher level of care.

In this role you will be responsible for leading and supervising 52.9 FTEs comprised of RNs, Patient Care Technicians, Unit Administrative Assistant, Team Coordinator, Unit Coordinators.

Position Available

  • Full time, 1.0 FTE

Education

  • A minimum of a BSN is required

Certification/Licensure

  • A Virginia or a compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

  • BLS

  • ACLS preferred

Experience

  • Three (3) years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience in an acute care setting. Preference is ICU experience.
  • One (1) year of formal management experience. In lieu of this experience, two (2) years of experience in a support leadership RN (Registered Nurse) position. Example: Unit Coordinator, Supervisor, Team Lead
